Apart from these, Flores declines having any noodles or rice, but prefers only barley. He also fancies drinking fresh water from the stream flowing down from IIampu, the highest snow clad mountain peak in Bolivia.

All these foodstuffs account to a healthy diet that has kept Flores in a perfect physical condition. He avoids alcohol consumption and agrees to have consumed a lot of mutton and pork in his youth. He had also hunted foxes in his early days for his diet.

Not just the diet, he also gives credit to the long walks he takes, especially with the animals as they make him walk more thereby keeping him energetic. He still walks without a cane and has never had any kind of serious illnesses. He speaks in a clear voice and has perfect eyesight as well.

The local government of Bolivia on 26th August, 2013 has honored him with the title ‘Living heritage of humanity’.
